GILBERTSVILLE, PA — Penflex Corp. has introduced a domestically sourced metal hose and braid line designed to help contractors meet federal procurement requirements on publicly funded water infrastructure projects.
The Gilbertsville manufacturer stated that the products comply with American Iron and Steel requirements governing projects financed through the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund programs.
Those rules require covered iron and steel products to be manufactured in the United States using domestically sourced materials.
Penflex manufactures the new stainless steel hose and braid at its Pennsylvania facility using U.S.-produced strip and wire. The company assigned dedicated part numbers and approved domestic suppliers to support material tracking and purchasing compliance.
The line is based on Penflex’s existing P4 and 700 Series products and retains the same geometry and performance specifications, including flexibility, corrosion resistance and durability, according to the company.
“This AIS-compliant line reflects a focused investment in aligning our raw material sourcing with evolving domestic content requirements,” President Robert Barker stated.
Penflex positioned the products for customers managing procurement rules tied to federal infrastructure spending, including the broader Build America, Buy America framework.
The company also stated that the domestically sourced products may support purchases subject to Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement requirements, depending on the project.
Penflex provides material test reports and certificates of conformance intended to document the source and specifications of the components.
“We’ve built traceability into the product from the start,” Director of Quality Jessica Bruzzese stated.
The AIS-compliant line is available in sizes ranging from three-quarters of an inch to 12 inches. It uses 316L stainless steel hose and 304L stainless steel braid and is sold as separate hose and braid or as single-braided hose on reels.
