Medecision Tops Black Book Ranking as Payers Expand Care Management Technology

Medecision

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Medecision was ranked the highest-rated vendor in care management, long-term services and supports (LTSS), and complex care coordination in Black Book Research’s 2026 payer technology survey, a designation that comes as health insurers and managed care organizations increase investment in digital tools designed to manage high-cost patient populations.

The healthcare technology company earned the top position in Black Book’s annual assessment of payer technology vendors based on feedback from health plans, managed care organizations and other users of payer-focused technology platforms.

The ranking was based on Black Book’s evaluation framework, which measures vendors across 18 performance indicators, including strategic alignment, outcome achievement and technology adoption, according to the research firm.

Black Book said its 2026 State of Payer Digital Technology report was compiled from an eight-month survey of more than 8,000 respondents from U.S. managed care and health plan organizations.

The annual study examines technology adoption, regulatory preparedness, operational challenges and digital transformation priorities across the payer sector. It also ranks vendors across categories including care management, claims processing, prior authorization and interoperability.

The recognition highlights the growing importance of care-management platforms as insurers seek to coordinate services for patients with complex medical and social needs while managing costs and meeting regulatory requirements.

Doug Brown, founder of Black Book Research, said the rankings are intended to identify vendors delivering measurable results to payer organizations.

“The recognition of Medecision as the top client-rated vendor in Care Management, LTSS, and Complex Care Coordination Technology reflects strong client validation in a category that is increasingly important to payer digital transformation,” Brown said.

The rankings were released ahead of the annual meeting of the health insurance industry trade group AHIP, where health plan executives and technology buyers typically evaluate emerging technology investments and vendor offerings.

Medecision develops software and data-management tools used by health plans, providers and risk-bearing healthcare organizations to coordinate care and manage population health programs.
