GORDONVILLE, PA — Belmont Solar has been recognized among the nation’s leading solar contractors for a second consecutive year, reflecting continued growth in its installation business as demand for residential and commercial solar projects expands across Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic.
The Gordonville-based company ranked No. 353 on Solar Power World’s 2026 Top Solar Contractors list and earned multiple additional rankings based on its installation activity. Belmont Solar placed No. 34 on the publication’s Pennsylvania list, No. 179 among residential contractors, No. 238 among commercial contractors and No. 167 among solar installers nationwide.
Solar Power World publishes the annual rankings each July, evaluating contractors based on the amount of solar-generating capacity installed during the previous calendar year. Belmont Solar reported installing 867.7 kilowatts of solar capacity in 2025, including 833.8 kilowatts in Pennsylvania. The publication also reported that the U.S. solar industry has surpassed 6 million individual installations.
Belmont Solar traces its origins to 2002, when founder Ben Zook began building off-grid power systems that combined solar panels with battery storage. Since then, the company has expanded its operations throughout the Mid-Atlantic, acquired solar mounting system manufacturer Tough Trac and established partnerships with Solar for America, Sol-Ark and Tesla, according to the company.
Zook said the recognition reflects the company’s broader effort to increase awareness of solar energy and address misconceptions that discourage potential customers.
“There are a lot of misconceptions and old, outdated information that create a psychological barrier. People are not aware of what can be done; solar, large-scale or small-scale, is such a big plus,” Zook said.
The company said educating homeowners and businesses about renewable energy remains a central part of its mission as interest in distributed energy generation continues to grow.
“Using solar power is a lot like planting a tree. The best time was 20 years ago; the second best time is today,” Zook said.
