Listrak Launches Email Audit Tool as Click Rates Slide

Listrak

LITITZ, PA — Listrak launched a free email auditing tool for retail marketers as the company’s platform data showed click-through rates fell 11% year over year in the second quarter of 2026, increasing pressure on brands to improve a channel that Listrak says generates 30% of e-commerce revenue.

The Email Marketing Audit evaluates marketing emails against more than 30 criteria covering content, compliance and technical composition. The web-based tool does not require users to create an account, according to Listrak.

The Lititz-based cross-channel personalization company said results are generated within seconds and include recommendations intended to identify potential problems affecting email performance.

The content analysis examines elements including preheaders, calls to action, subject-line spam triggers, preference-management links, clickable logos, social-media links and invitations to opt into SMS marketing.

Compliance checks cover CAN-SPAM requirements, accessibility criteria and, when an email contains SMS opt-in elements, SMS-related requirements. Among the items reviewed are unsubscribe links, image alt text, color contrast, physical business addresses and urgency claims.

The tool also analyzes how an email is constructed, including mobile design, the risk of Gmail clipping, image file sizes, coupon-code accessibility, GIF use, button-style calls to action and the use of live text.

Listrak Chief Executive Officer Ross Kramer said the tool is intended to address problems that can emerge when different teams contribute to an email campaign.

“Emails are often created in silos across creative, merchandising and marketing teams, making it easy to miss important nuances that inhibit email performance,” Kramer said.

The launch comes as Listrak’s own platform data point to weaker engagement with marketing emails. The company reported an 11% year-over-year decline in email click-through rates during the second quarter, even as it estimates email accounts for 30% of e-commerce revenue.

Listrak said the audit criteria draw on practices it uses in its work with more than 1,000 retail brands.
