READING, PA — Pinky’s Junk Removal has expanded into Berks County under Reading-area entrepreneur David Wise, giving the longtime industry operator a local foothold for the independent business he developed after selling six junk-removal franchise locations.
The company provides residential and commercial services including furniture and appliance removal, estate cleanouts, garage and basement cleanouts, office cleanouts and construction-debris removal.
Wise previously spent nearly two decades in the junk-removal industry and built and operated six franchise locations before selling the business, according to the company.
Rather than return to the franchise model, Wise developed Pinky’s as an independent operation, giving the company control over its pricing practices, customer service and operating model.
Pinky’s initially launched in Virginia’s Hampton Roads region before expanding into Berks County. The Pennsylvania operation brings Wise back to the market where he grew up and has maintained personal and business ties.
“Reading has always been home to me,” Wise stated. “The farthest I’ve ever lived from the house I grew up in in Mohnton is about five miles.”
The Berks County launch adds another venture to Wise’s record as a small-business operator. Companies he founded have previously appeared on the Inc. 5000 ranking of fast-growing private companies, and the U.S. Small Business Administration named him its Small Business Person of the Year in 2012.
Wise is positioning the new operation around jobs that often accompany moves, property transitions and business changes, including clearing estates and reclaiming residential or commercial space.
“At the end of the day, we’re not in the junk business; we’re in the fresh start business,” Wise stated. “Sometimes we’re helping a family clean out a loved one’s home after they’ve passed away. Sometimes, we’re giving someone their garage back so they can finally park again.”
