ICYMI: ImageKit Launches Folder-Level Governance Feature for Media Assets

NEWARK, DE — ImageKit announced a new “Path policy” feature that allows businesses to enforce content and metadata governance at the folder level within its digital asset management platform.

The feature is designed to help organizations apply consistent rules across media assets and subfolders, reducing reliance on manual processes and minimizing unintended changes, the company said.

Path policies enable users to assign rules to specific folders so that metadata requirements, default values, and upload restrictions automatically apply to all files within those directories.

The company said the feature addresses challenges faced by teams managing large volumes of visual content, where different departments require distinct metadata standards and workflows.

“Media governance needs to scale with how businesses actually organize and ship visual content,” said CEO Rahul Nanwani, adding that the feature allows businesses to define standards without applying uniform rules across an entire asset library.

ImageKit said the feature includes controls for metadata fields, file naming conventions, and upload restrictions, as well as automation options such as background removal, auto-tagging, and AI-generated descriptions.

The platform also allows businesses to restrict actions such as deleting, renaming, or moving files within governed folders to protect critical assets.

Path policies are available to enterprise customers and are designed to scale across large asset libraries by automatically applying rules to subfolders, the company said.
