Chester County Counselor Targets Childhood Anxiety in New Book

The Growth Mindset Workbook for Anxious Kids

PAOLI, PA — Chester County therapist Lauren S. Mosback is releasing a new workbook designed to help children manage anxiety by combining growth mindset principles with evidence-based behavioral therapies, reflecting growing demand for practical mental health resources for young people and families.

The Growth Mindset Workbook for Anxious Kids: Calm Worries, Build Confidence, and Grow Stronger will be published Aug. 1 by New Harbinger Publications. The workbook is intended for children ages 7 to 12 and incorporates techniques drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and psychologist Carol Dweck’s research on growth mindset.

Mosback, a licensed professional counselor and licensed behavior specialist based in Paoli, said the book grew out of her work with children experiencing anxiety, perfectionism and fear of failure.

The workbook uses interactive exercises to help children develop coping strategies, reframe setbacks and build emotional resilience through repeated practice rather than viewing challenges as evidence of personal limitations.

“It is not always easy to be a kid today, and many children get stuck in spirals of worry and anxiety,” wrote therapist Tammi Van Hollander in an editorial review. “A growth mindset can help children move through those stuck places and build resilience.”

Another reviewer, therapist Liana Lowenstein, said the workbook teaches children “that coping skills and emotional resilience can be learned and strengthened and that emotions are nothing to fear.”

Mosback has more than 15 years of experience working with children, teenagers and families through her private counseling practice in the Philadelphia suburbs. In addition to writing children’s books and workbooks focused on social-emotional development, she founded Empowering Kids Media, a Facebook-based resource for parents and educators.

The workbook is available through Amazon and other booksellers.
