PHILADELPHIA, PA — Comcast has introduced same-day delivery and pickup for Xfinity internet equipment to reduce installation delays and accelerate customer activation across its broadband footprint.
The program allows new Xfinity internet customers in nearly 20 markets to receive a self-installation gateway within hours of signing up or pick up equipment the same day at one of more than 700 Xfinity retail locations nationwide.
The initiative reflects growing competition among internet providers to simplify onboarding and reduce the time between purchase and service activation, particularly for customers moving into new homes or establishing service on short notice.
Comcast plans to expand same-day gateway delivery to nearly all Xfinity markets by early 2027.
The company’s broadband gateway serves as the central device for home internet service, providing WiFi connectivity, cybersecurity protections and network management features.
Customers who receive same-day equipment can activate service through the Xfinity app and complete installation without a technician visit.
Eric Jagher, senior vice president and general manager of connectivity at Xfinity, framed the offering as an effort to align broadband service activation with consumer expectations for faster fulfillment.
“In a world where almost everything is instant, home Internet shouldn’t be an exception,” Jagher stated.
The rollout also gives new customers immediate access to Xfinity’s network of more than 23 million WiFi hotspots after enrollment, allowing connectivity before home equipment arrives.
The service launches in markets including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Philadelphia and San Francisco, with broader expansion planned over the next several months.
The announcement is part of Comcast’s broader strategy to strengthen customer acquisition and retention in the highly competitive broadband market, where providers increasingly differentiate through service flexibility, wireless offerings and customer experience.
New Xfinity internet customers are also eligible for one Xfinity Mobile Select line for one year, according to the company.
