DELAWARE & MONTGOMERY COUNTIES, PA — Drivers using Interstate 476 should prepare for more than a month of overnight lane closures as bridge repairs, line striping and guiderail installation move forward between the Interstate 76 and Interstate 95 interchanges.

Lane closures will be placed on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 during the overnight work periods. The specific work locations may shift as crews progress along the interstate.
No detour was announced. Drivers should plan extra time and expect backups and delays when traveling through active work zones. Seek alternate routes when practical and remain alert for crews, construction vehicles and changing traffic patterns.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions are unfavorable.
The restrictions are part of a $63.7 million federally funded project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of I-476, including associated ramps and bridges in Delaware and Montgomery counties.
Crews will mill and repave travel lanes and shoulders in both directions, repair 49 structures and improve 21 stormwater management basins. The project also includes sound-wall repairs, drainage improvements, rock-slope stabilization and the installation of new pavement markings, delineators, rumble strips, signs and guiderail.
PennDOT expects the work to extend the interstate’s service life while improving ride quality, safety and deteriorated roadside infrastructure. H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor.
