MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — Drivers traveling Interstate 295 in Bucks County should plan extra time next week as daytime lane closures near the U.S. 1 Interchange are expected to cause backups and delays. The restrictions are scheduled while crews install pavement markings as part of an ongoing $56.1 million interstate bridge repair project.

PennDOT plans to close lanes in both directions during the six-hour work windows. Motorists traveling through Middletown Township should expect delays, allow additional travel time or consider alternate routes when possible.
The pavement marking work is part of a broader project addressing high-priority repairs to interstate bridges along critical transportation corridors. The work includes repairs to deteriorated bridge decks, structural steel, concrete beams, railings, guiderail, expansion joints and portions of bridge substructures.
Crews also are repairing or reconstructing bridge components including bearing pedestals and fixed bearings, cleaning bridge seats and removing debris. Overhead steel sign structures will be cleaned and repainted, while existing roadway lighting will be upgraded with LED luminaires.
IEW Construction Group Inc. of Hamilton, New Jersey, is the general contractor for the $56.1 million project, which is financed entirely with federal funds.
The scheduled lane closures are weather dependent.
