Hand & Stone Expands Workforce Pipeline With Wellness Scholarships

Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa

TREVOSE, PA — Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa is expanding its investment in workforce development through a new scholarship initiative aimed at attracting more students to massage therapy and esthetics programs, as employers across the wellness sector continue to seek qualified professionals.

The Trevose-based spa franchisor said it has partnered with nonprofit organization Beauty Changes Lives to launch two scholarship programs that will provide financial assistance to students pursuing careers in massage therapy and skincare.

The effort comes as demand for wellness services continues to grow and employers across the industry work to strengthen recruitment pipelines for licensed practitioners.

Hand & Stone, which employs more than 7,000 massage therapists and 3,000 estheticians across its franchise network, said each scholarship will award $2,500 to a student currently enrolled in or newly accepted to an accredited massage therapy or esthetics program.

The scholarships include the Hand & Stone x Universal Companies In Good Hands Massage Scholarship and the Hand & Stone x Dermalogica In Good Hands Esthetic Scholarship.

“We believe the future of wellness depends on supporting the next generation of massage therapists and estheticians,” Lisa Rossmann, chief concept officer at Hand & Stone, said in a statement. “Careers in wellness and skincare can be deeply meaningful, and we’re proud to help create more accessible pathways for students pursuing those professions.”

The initiative is supported by Universal Companies and Dermalogica and is intended to help reduce financial barriers to entering the profession while expanding the industry’s future talent pool.

Beyond the scholarship program, Hand & Stone said it continues to expand its National School Program, which connects franchise owners with massage and esthetics schools to provide training opportunities, tuition reimbursement programs, student sponsorships and assistance with grant applications.
