Gopuff Deploys AI Shopping Assistant in Push to Automate Discovery

Gopuff

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Gopuff is introducing an artificial intelligence-powered shopping assistant designed to automate product discovery and purchasing decisions, as the instant-delivery company seeks to reduce friction in online commerce and deepen customer engagement within its app.

The Philadelphia-based company said the new tool, called Go, was developed in collaboration with SpaceXAI and combines AI reasoning, voice interaction, image generation, customer purchase history, and real-time social media signals to generate personalized shopping recommendations and streamline checkout.

The launch reflects a broader race among retailers and technology companies to integrate generative AI into consumer shopping experiences, moving beyond search functions toward systems that anticipate purchasing behavior and make recommendations automatically.

One of Go’s central features is predictive cart generation. The system builds a suggested shopping cart when customers open the app, using factors such as order history, location, time of day, and behavioral patterns to recommend products before a search is initiated.

The platform also incorporates a personalized content feed that presents products through AI-generated imagery based on local inventory availability, customer preferences, and trending topics. Users can add recommended collections to their carts or modify selections directly from the feed.

Go also includes conversational shopping capabilities powered by voice and text interactions. Customers can request products based on dietary preferences, budget constraints, or meal ideas, with the system generating shoppable recommendations in real time.

“The greatest friction left in commerce is not delivery or instantaneous access to the essentials customers need,” Gopuff co-founder and co-CEO Yakir Gola said. “It’s the moment before: the thinking, the deciding, the remembering.”

Gopuff said the system draws on more than a decade of transaction data collected through hundreds of millions of orders processed across its network of more than 400 micro-fulfillment centers.

The company said Go is intended to create a more personalized shopping experience while reducing the time customers spend searching for products before completing purchases.

The rollout comes as retailers increasingly invest in AI-driven tools aimed at improving customer retention, increasing basket size, and differentiating digital shopping experiences in a highly competitive e-commerce market.
