PHILADELPHIA, PA — Insomnia Cookies will give customers wearing pajamas a free Classic cookie Sept. 15 across its U.S. and Canadian bakery network, using its eighth annual PJ Party to drive store traffic as college campuses return to fall routines.
The Philadelphia-based cookie chain will offer the giveaway without requiring a purchase or Insomnia Rewards membership. Most locations will run the promotion from 8 p.m. until closing, while its Dayton, Ohio, bakery will participate from 6 to 10 p.m.
Insomnia distributed about 67,000 free cookies during last year’s PJ Party, according to the company. The event began in 2019 and has since expanded across its bakery network.
The company is putting additional emphasis on its campus business this year, with 174 campus bakeries scheduled for expanded promotions.
At 149 campus locations, customers can receive merchandise including totes, koozies, pens, lip balms, sticker packs and eye patches while supplies last. Another 25 bakeries will offer enhanced events with prize wheels and additional merchandise.

Insomnia is also tying the event to a sweepstakes aimed at college students. One student will receive a package that includes free Insomnia Cookies for a year, bedding, an espresso machine, headphones, sleep products, custom skateboard décor, pajamas and a $200 gift card.
To enter, customers must attend the Sept. 15 event, obtain a Classic cookie while wearing pajamas and post a photo or video to their Instagram or TikTok feed using #InsomniaPJParty and tagging @insomniacookies.
The sweepstakes runs from 8 p.m. ET Sept. 15 through 11:59 p.m. ET Sept. 16, subject to eligibility restrictions. Complete rules are available at insomniacookies.com/dream-dorm-room-giveaway.
The company will layer several sales promotions around the giveaway. Customers can receive 25% off ice cream cups and pints in stores throughout Sept. 15, excluding Cookie’wiches and ice cream served with cookies, brookies or brownies.
Through Sept. 27, customers who buy six Classic cookies in stores can receive two additional Classic cookies free. App customers who buy 12 Classic cookies can receive four free during the same period.
Insomnia Rewards members will also earn double points on eligible purchases throughout Sept. 15.
The free-cookie offer excludes Deluxe and limited-time cookies.
