KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Goddard Systems, LLC awarded its 2026 Anthony A. Martino Memorial Scholarship to Maryland student Andrew Chen, recognizing a former Goddard School student whose work in educational game design and environmental advocacy reflects growing interest in technology-driven learning tools.
The $10,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior who completed a Goddard School pre-kindergarten or kindergarten program and demonstrates leadership, perseverance, and community involvement associated with the company’s founder, Anthony A. Martino.
Chen, a graduate of Urbana High School in Frederick, Maryland, attended pre-kindergarten at The Goddard School of Urbana and will attend the University of Pennsylvania this fall.
According to the company, Chen earned international recognition in 2025 through the Games for Change Student Challenge, where he received a Made with Unity Award for educational games focused on sustainability concepts.
The company stated Chen also served on the Maryland Youth Leadership Council of the Sierra Club and held a leadership role in his school’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter.
Chief Executive Officer Darin Harris linked Chen’s achievements to broader interest in early childhood education programs that emphasize inquiry-based and technology-oriented learning.
Chen stated that hands-on learning experiences during his early education helped shape his interest in designing interactive educational tools.
“My time at The Goddard School encouraged me to explore ideas, think independently and approach learning in a hands-on way,” Chen stated. “Those early experiences showed me that education can be engaging and interactive, which later inspired my interest in educational game design.”
The Goddard School franchise system operates early childhood education centers across the United States focused on pre-kindergarten and developmental learning programs.
