FS Targets Wi-Fi 7 Campus Upgrades With Software-Led Network

FS

NEW CASTLE, DE — FS is introducing a software-driven campus networking system that combines Wi-Fi 7 access points, multi-gigabit switching and centralized management, targeting enterprises that need to increase wireless capacity without replacing their infrastructure in a single upgrade cycle.

The system combines Wi-Fi 7 access points with PicOS campus switches and FS’s AmpCon management software. The architecture supports 2.5G, 5G and 10G access as enterprises contend with higher bandwidth requirements from dense wireless deployments.

FS designed the system to allow organizations to transition gradually from Wi-Fi 6 to Wi-Fi 7, providing an upgrade path as network requirements change.

AmpCon provides centralized management of wired switches and wireless access points, including template-based deployment, Zero-Touch Provisioning, centralized configuration, network visibility and telemetry-based analytics.

The upcoming AmpCon-Campus 3.0 release will make those management and automation capabilities available without additional licensing fees, reducing a recurring software cost associated with operating the network.

The system also incorporates 802.1X authentication, RADIUS/TACACS and policy-based access controls for managing users and devices and segmenting network resources. Hardware-based trusted boot is designed to restrict network devices to trusted code.

FS is also using PicOS, its programmable network operating system, to give customers greater flexibility in network architecture and reduce dependence on a single networking supplier.

The company plans to expand its Wi-Fi 7 portfolio as enterprise campus requirements evolve.
