PHILADELPHIA, PA — Exyn Technologies (Nasdaq: EXYN, EXYNW) reported that its autonomous mapping platform reduced underground survey times by about 88% and tripled mapping coverage at Eldorado Gold Corp.’s Tüprag mine in Turkey, demonstrating potential productivity gains from robotics in hazardous mining environments.
The Exyn Nexys platform cut survey capture time to about five minutes per scan from approximately 40 minutes, according to the company. Tüprag’s crews were also able to complete five scans during a shift.
The mine reported roughly 300% greater survey coverage and fewer measurement errors after deploying the system. Under its previous process, crews had to repeat about one in five scans, Exyn stated.
Tüprag adopted the platform following a demonstration arranged by Exyn channel partner Marubeni. The mine had sought an alternative to traditional cavity-monitoring systems that required longer surveys, specialized equipment and work near unsupported ground.
Exyn Nexys allows crews to deploy the system from a safer location and collect georeferenced three-dimensional data beyond their visual line of sight without GPS or direct piloting.
“Autonomous mapping minimizes personnel exposure by enabling remote data collection in these areas,” Tüprag Survey Administrator Ozan Ege Özsoy stated. “The repeatability and coverage have changed the way we plan and operate.”
The higher-resolution scans also supported stope assessments, monthly stockpile reporting and broader operational planning, according to Exyn.
Tüprag reported that the platform identified recoverable ore in previously inaccessible sections of the mine, allowing the operator to create a new stope in an older mining area. The company indicated that the additional ore allowed the investment to pay for itself, though it did not disclose the equipment cost or value of the recovered resource.
“This deployment demonstrates how autonomous robotics can fundamentally change underground operations by delivering faster, safer and more comprehensive data collection,” Exyn Chief Executive Officer Brandon Torres Declet stated.
Tüprag is expanding its use of the platform and evaluating additional autonomous mapping applications as activity at the mine increases.
