PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — ETHOS Treatment LLC has appointed Maria Ulmer as vice president of clinical services, adding a behavioral healthcare executive with more than 20 years of experience as the organization expands its mental health and substance use treatment programs across Pennsylvania.
Ulmer will oversee clinical operations, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and the development of the company’s evidence-based behavioral health services, ETHOS Treatment said.
Her responsibilities include clinical supervision, utilization management, documentation standards, quality improvement initiatives, professional development and regulatory readiness across the organization’s locations.
The appointment comes as ETHOS continues to grow its outpatient and telehealth programs for patients receiving treatment for mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
Before joining ETHOS, Ulmer served as vice president of clinical operations for Recovery Centers of America, where she oversaw clinical programs across multiple states. She also served as interim chief executive officer of the organization’s Raritan Bay facility during a leadership transition and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
More recently, Ulmer co-founded Thrive Behavioral Health Associates and Mission Consulting Group, advising behavioral health organizations on clinical quality systems, Joint Commission preparedness, documentation standards and regulatory compliance.
“She has built a reputation for developing exceptional clinical teams, improving quality outcomes, and creating systems that allow clinicians to provide outstanding care,” ETHOS co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Brendan Young said, describing the company’s rationale for the appointment.
Ulmer earned a master’s degree in clinical counseling psychology, with concentrations in marriage and family therapy and addictions, from La Salle University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Temple University. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in multiple states and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Pennsylvania.
