Dunmore Launches DUN-DIFFUSE White Kapton® Film for Aerospace Use

Dunmore Aerospace

BRISTOL, PA — Dunmore has unveiled DUN-DIFFUSE™, a White Kapton® Polyimide Film designed to enhance thermal efficiency in aerospace applications. This advanced multi-layer insulation (MLI) film offers high emissivity, moderate absorptance, and superior adhesion, providing robust protection for spacecraft against intense environmental conditions.

The new film, a 100 Ga (25 micron) Kapton® variant, is metalized with vacuum-deposited aluminum (VDA) and coated with ITO or StaMet. Its high surface energy enables it to bond more effectively with adhesives, coatings, and other materials, making it a versatile option for various uses. With a lower a/e ratio compared to similar products, DUN-DIFFUSE™ maintains a stable, cooler surface, providing an ideal outer layer for MLI or as a second surface mirror (SSM) in radiator systems.

Additional product options include conductive and non-conductive perforated tapes, such as ITO/100 Ga White Kapton® WS/VDA, 100 Ga White Kapton® WS/VDA, and StaMet/100 Ga White Kapton® WS/VDA.

“Dunmore is responding to increased customer demand for this exciting new product,” said Nik Taritas, Vice President of Business Development at Dunmore. “We engaged in multiple customer conversations at SmallSat and SpaceTech regarding development of this product, and we are thrilled to bring DUN-DIFFUSE™ to the aerospace market. It’s a new way to safeguard passive thermal control systems and can be a game-changer in aerospace applications.”
