MALVERN, PA — Neuronetics, Inc. (NASDAQ: STIM) has opened a new Greenbrook Mental Wellness Centers facility in Rockville, Maryland, expanding its footprint in interventional psychiatry while establishing a flagship site for clinical research, physician training, and future treatment development.
The company said the nearly 7,000-square-foot National Center of Excellence will serve as a model for future Greenbrook locations as demand grows for in-office treatments targeting depression and other psychiatric conditions that do not respond to first-line therapies.
The Rockville center is the largest facility in Greenbrook’s network and is designed to support high-volume delivery of NeuroStar transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy and SPRAVATO (esketamine) treatment. The site is also certified under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program required for SPRAVATO administration.
Neuronetics indicated that the facility will operate as Greenbrook’s National Center for Clinical Innovation and Research, evaluating new treatment approaches before they are introduced across the company’s clinic network. The center also is intended to support clinical research and physician education.
“The Rockville Center of Excellence will serve as Greenbrook’s National Center for Clinical Innovation and Research, providing the clinical infrastructure needed to expand access to advanced interventional treatments, evaluate emerging therapies, and continue improving patient-centered psychiatric care,” said Geoffrey Grammer, M.D., Neuronetics’ chief medical officer, who oversees the facility and continues to provide patient care there.
The company said the center is positioned to evaluate additional treatment modalities, including potential psychedelic-class therapies if they receive FDA approval in the future.
Neuronetics combines its NeuroStar TMS platform with Greenbrook’s network of interventional psychiatry clinics, which provide TMS and SPRAVATO therapy for patients with treatment-resistant depression and other psychiatric conditions. NeuroStar is FDA-cleared to treat major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents ages 15 and older and as an adjunctive treatment for adults with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
