BLUE BELL, PA — The Columbus Organization has been approved by Kentucky’s Department for Medicaid Services to provide case management services under the state’s new CHILD Waiver program, expanding access to home-based care for children with complex needs.

The CHILD Waiver, set to launch in 2026, is a Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services program designed for individuals under age 21 with high-intensity behavioral health or developmental conditions who meet hospital or intermediate care facility levels of care.

Columbus will provide care coordination, family engagement, and resource connection services during an initial six-month certification period.

The program is intended to help eligible participants remain in their homes and communities rather than institutional settings.

Stephanie Stuart, executive director of Kentucky for Columbus, said the approval supports expanded access to community-based care.

“This approval reflects our continued commitment to expanding access to community-based care for children and families,” Stuart said.

The CHILD Waiver is administered by the Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services’ Division of Long Term Services and Supports.
