PHILADELPHIA, PA — Santa is trading snow for sunshine as Fishtown’s popular Under the El Bazaar embraces the holiday spirit months ahead of schedule with a Christmas in July celebration packed with local shopping, festive entertainment, and family fun.
On Saturday, July 18, the 1700 block of North Front Street will transform into a seasonal marketplace beneath the Market-Frankford El, where visitors can browse local artisans and vintage vendors, snap a photo with Santa, enjoy live music, and sample food and drinks from neighborhood favorites—all while soaking in a uniquely summery take on the holidays.
The free community event continues the Under the El Bazaar series, which has become one of Fishtown’s signature neighborhood gatherings by bringing together local businesses, artists, makers, and residents in an open-air marketplace celebrating the community’s creative spirit.
Visitors looking to get an early start on holiday shopping will find handmade goods, vintage treasures, and one-of-a-kind gifts from local vendors. Families can also enjoy games, holiday-themed decorations, seasonal surprises, and island-inspired Christmas music throughout the afternoon.
One of the day’s biggest attractions will be Santa Claus himself, who will be available for photos from 1 to 3 p.m.
Several popular Fishtown restaurants and businesses will also be offering food and drink specials during the event, including Evil Genius Beer Company, Percy Diner & Bar, Pure Green, LMNO, Mecha Noodle Bar, and International Bar, making it easy to spend the afternoon shopping, dining, and exploring the neighborhood.
