ELKTON, MD — Cecil College said nine students completed its HVAC technician apprenticeship program, qualifying them to apply for Maryland HVACR journeyman licenses without taking the state licensing exam.
The graduates were recognized April 29 during an annual banquet hosted by the Maryland Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors Association at Boumi Shriners in Baltimore.
The Class of 2026 includes Timothy Adams, Bryson Bean, Elijah Bradley, Ethan Gullion, Matthew Hann, Steven Hinckle, Cameron Logsdon, Tristan Pomeroy and Ryan Wagener.
Established in 2018, the apprenticeship program combines classroom instruction with hands-on residential and commercial HVAC training through a partnership between Cecil College and the Maryland Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors Association.
The four-year program requires apprentices to complete evening coursework and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training within five years.
Courses are offered through Cecil College and partner institutions including Carroll Community College, Harford Community College and Howard Community College. Cecil County Public Schools hosts Cecil College’s portion of the program at the School of Technology in Elkton.
Graduates of the program may continue working toward master HVACR licenses after receiving journeyman eligibility, according to the college.
More information about the program is available through Cecil College Skilled Trades Programs.
