Boomi Acquires Elementary Data to Expand AI Data Controls

Boomi

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Boomi has acquired Elementary Data, a provider of software that monitors data quality and reliability, expanding the Conshohocken-based company’s enterprise integration platform as businesses seek greater oversight of information used by artificial intelligence systems.

The acquisition adds data observability, governance and automated monitoring capabilities to the Boomi Enterprise Platform, allowing customers to identify and address data problems before they affect business applications, analytics or AI agents.

Elementary, founded in 2022, provides software that monitors data pipelines, detects anomalies and tracks information as it moves through enterprise systems. Its technology has been adopted by more than 1,500 data teams and records more than 1.1 million monthly downloads, according to Boomi.

The transaction follows Boomi’s acquisition of Lunar.dev and extends its strategy of combining enterprise data integration with tools for managing AI-driven operations.

Elementary’s software is designed to identify problems involving data accuracy, freshness and completeness before that information reaches downstream systems. Such controls are becoming more consequential as companies deploy AI agents capable of executing business tasks without direct human intervention.

A July 2026 Forrester Consulting study commissioned by Boomi found that 86% of surveyed business leaders reported moving beyond AI agent pilot programs, but only 34% trusted the actions taken by their organizations’ agentic systems.

Organizations that deployed AI agents before they were ready reported an average of $2.1 million in additional costs, according to the study.

The findings illustrate the operational risks Boomi is seeking to address by incorporating data monitoring and governance directly into its platform.

“AI is only as trustworthy as the data behind it,” Boomi Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Lucas said. The acquisition adds capabilities intended to make information used by AI systems more reliable and traceable.

Elementary’s technology includes automated monitoring of data pipelines, column-level data lineage and tools for identifying the origin, movement and transformation of information across enterprise systems.

The platform also provides a data catalog with ownership records, classifications and health scores, allowing organizations to assess the condition of data assets and determine responsibility for maintaining them.

Its Model Context Protocol server makes information about data quality and context available to compatible AI tools and agents.

Additional AI-powered capabilities automate data testing, incident investigation, governance tasks and performance optimization.

These functions will complement Boomi’s Active Data Foundation, which integrates and governs information as it moves between applications, devices and AI systems.

The combination is intended to extend Boomi’s capabilities beyond moving and connecting data to monitoring its reliability throughout enterprise workflows.

Elementary began as an open-source project before introducing Elementary Cloud in 2024 to provide additional capabilities for enterprise customers.

The company has developed a community of approximately 4,000 members, providing Boomi with an established user base in data engineering and observability.

Maayan Salom, Elementary’s chief executive officer and co-founder, said the growing use of autonomous AI systems has increased the importance of detecting data problems before they affect business operations.

“When agents act on your data at machine speed, trust in that data stops being a nice-to-have,” Salom said.

Joining Boomi gives Elementary access to a larger distribution network. Boomi reports serving more than 30,000 customers through an ecosystem of more than 800 partners.

For Boomi, the acquisition broadens its position in the enterprise software market by combining integration, data management and automated quality controls within a platform serving organizations deploying AI applications and agents.
