KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Solutions has partnered with Sword Health to launch an AI-driven musculoskeletal care program for expatriate members, with access beginning July 1, the company announced.
The program will provide members with group expatriate medical coverage access to Sword Health’s Thrive Global platform, which delivers movement and physical well-being support through a mobile-based system.
The offering is designed to address musculoskeletal conditions, which the World Health Organization identifies as the leading cause of disability worldwide, with low back pain ranking as the top contributor in 160 countries.
BCBS Global Solutions said the program will be available at no cost to eligible members and will not require in-person visits or specialized equipment.
The Thrive Global platform uses phone-based motion tracking and artificial intelligence to guide users through personalized exercise sessions and provide real-time feedback.
Additional features include educational content and on-demand access to sessions that can be completed at any time.
Simon Jackson, chief growth officer of BCBS Global Solutions, said musculoskeletal conditions are a significant driver of health impacts and healthcare costs among its global members.
“Musculoskeletal conditions are one of the most significant drivers of health impact and claims spend across our global population,” Jackson said.
The partnership expands the company’s portfolio of digital health offerings for internationally mobile members, following other recent program launches focused on specialized care.
André Eiras, senior vice president of global sales at Sword Health, said the collaboration aims to broaden access to physical well-being support.
“By combining Sword’s AI-first approach with BCBS Global Solutions’ expertise in international healthcare, we’re helping members proactively care for their bodies,” Eiras said.
BCBS Global Solutions provides international health coverage and services for expatriates and globally mobile populations.
