BRYN MAWR, PA — Essential Utilities Inc. (NYSE: WTRG) raised its quarterly cash dividend 5.25% to $0.3606 per share, extending a decades-long record of dividend growth as the water, wastewater and natural gas utility returns additional cash to shareholders.
The Bryn Mawr-based company’s board declared the dividend payable Sept. 1 to shareholders of record as of Aug. 11.
The increase marks the 36th time Essential Utilities has raised its dividend in the past 35 years. The company has paid consecutive quarterly cash dividends for more than 80 years.
At the new quarterly rate, the dividend equates to $1.4424 per share on an annualized basis.
Essential Utilities operates through its Aqua and Peoples brands, providing water, wastewater and natural gas services to about 5.5 million people across nine states.
The company is one of the largest publicly traded U.S. providers of water, wastewater and natural gas services.
