PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Alliance for Decision Education has received a grant from the John Templeton Foundation to support a new initiative aimed at integrating decision-making skills into K-12 classrooms.
The initiative, titled “Better Decisions, Brighter Futures,” will work with educators to incorporate decision-making concepts into existing subjects such as math, science, English language arts, and social studies.
The nonprofit said the effort will use a co-design approach with teachers to develop classroom strategies that can be applied without adding to existing workloads.
The program will be implemented through the organization’s Decision Education Incubator, which partners with schools to test and refine instructional approaches and provide ongoing support.
The initiative also includes development of resources such as case studies and classroom tools to help schools adopt decision-making instruction.
“By working directly with educators, we can identify what works in practice and create resources that help others integrate these approaches,” said Executive Director David Samuelson.
Richard Bollinger, senior program officer at the John Templeton Foundation, said the project supports efforts to help students develop decision-making skills relevant to long-term outcomes.
