WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Health Department reported violations at three food facilities during inspections conducted May 1, while multiple other establishments were found in compliance.
At Bella Rosa, 1890 W. Strasburg Road in Coatesville, inspectors cited several maintenance and sanitation issues, including expired chlorine sanitizer test strips, a leaking faucet at a three-compartment sink, and the need to clean the interior of an ice machine. A damaged mop hanger was also noted, and an unlabeled spray bottle of grill cleaner was corrected during the inspection.
At Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School, 119 McDermott Drive in West Chester, inspectors identified multiple violations related to food safety practices and equipment requirements.
The facility was directed to replace its two-bay sink with a three-bay sink to meet food preparation and warewashing standards, with a compliance deadline of August 1, 2026.
Inspectors also cited improper produce washing in an unapproved sink, lack of a probe thermometer for monitoring food temperatures, and deficiencies in staff food safety knowledge.
Additional violations included improper cleaning of reusable food containers without proper sanitization and continued use of noncompliant food service equipment, which must be replaced with disposable items.
At The Original Hot Bagels, 100 Landenberg Road in Landenberg, inspectors cited the absence of a fire suppression system for the front counter hood, which must be installed, inspected, and approved.
