WEST CHESTER, PA — More than $2.5 million in state capital funding has been awarded to four Chester County projects supporting healthcare, emergency services and municipal infrastructure, says state Sen. Carolyn Comitta.
The grants, awarded through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), will fund a new perinatal care center at Paoli Hospital, an expansion of Goshen Fire Company, improvements to Downingtown Borough municipal facilities and renovations to Londonderry Township’s administrative offices.
Paoli Hospital received $850,000 to construct a new perinatal center that will include a waiting and reception area, examination and treatment rooms, and related infrastructure intended to expand maternal healthcare services.
Goshen Fire Company was awarded $800,254 to build an additional apparatus bay onto its existing station in East Goshen Township, increasing capacity for emergency response operations.
Downingtown Borough received $700,000 for construction and capital improvements at its municipal facilities.
Londonderry Township was awarded $200,000 to renovate its administrative offices, demolish portions of the existing building and construct two ADA-compliant additions.
Comitta stated that the investments are intended to strengthen healthcare, emergency response and local government infrastructure across Chester County.
“No matter where you live, we all deserve to live and work in communities that are safe and healthy,” Comitta stated. “These investments are helping to strengthen our health, emergency, and municipal services in Chester County.”
The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program provides state funding for the design, acquisition and construction of projects with regional economic, civic, cultural, recreational or historical significance. To qualify, projects must demonstrate regional or multi-jurisdictional benefits and support employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
The awards total approximately $2.55 million for the four Chester County projects.
