Vishay Expands High-Current Components for Auto, Energy Use

MALVERN, PA — Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH) introduced two common mode chokes designed to withstand high temperatures, shock and vibration in automotive, energy and industrial equipment, expanding its component lineup for high-current power and noise-suppression applications.

The Vishay Dale ICMS2321-10 and Automotive Grade ICMS2321-1A support heat-rating currents of up to 30 amps and a dielectric withstand voltage of 1,500 VDC between coils, the company said.

Both devices operate at temperatures as high as 150 degrees Celsius. Their low-profile construction is intended to reduce component size and volume while increasing resistance to shock and vibration, according to Vishay.

The components are available in surface-mount and through-hole configurations and are designed for DC/DC converters, high-voltage inverters, electromagnetic-interference filters, motor controls and other high-current filtering applications.

The ICMS2321-1A is qualified to the AEC-Q200 automotive reliability standard, positioning it for applications including onboard vehicle chargers.

Vishay said customers can specify inductance, impedance, direct-current resistance and current ratings. Surface-mount versions are available in tape-and-reel packaging for automated pick-and-place assembly.

The new products broaden Vishay’s component options for electronics operating under elevated thermal and mechanical stresses, particularly as automotive and power-electronics systems require high-current components in constrained board layouts.

Both devices are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free, according to the company.
