Lowkey Enters Growing Decaf Cold Brew Market

MALVERN, PA — Lowkey Coffee has launched an organic, ready-to-drink decaf cold brew in the Philadelphia region and online, targeting consumers seeking lower-caffeine alternatives as demand for decaffeinated beverages rises.

The company is offering unsweetened black and vanilla varieties in shelf-stable cans. Both products are certified organic by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Lowkey uses the Swiss Water Process, which removes caffeine using water, temperature and time rather than chemical solvents.

The company is positioning the product as an alternative to canned coffees containing higher levels of caffeine, added sugar and calories.

“We built Lowkey Coffee for consumers who want all the flavor, ritual, and enjoyment of great coffee without the caffeine tradeoffs,” co-founder Adriana Gindlesperger said.

Lowkey cited figures reported by Bloomberg showing sales of refrigerated ready-to-drink decaffeinated coffee and tea increased nearly 15% over the past year. Dollar sales of beverages labeled decaf rose almost 37% during the same period.

The cold brew is available with free shipping through DrinkLowkey.com and at ANEU Kitchens locations in the Greater Philadelphia region and at the New Jersey Shore. The company plans to expand distribution to additional retailers.
