EXTON, PA — Innovative Aerosystems (NASDAQ: ISSC) acquired Aydin Displays for $24.5 million in cash, expanding its defense electronics portfolio and U.S. manufacturing capacity in rugged display systems.
The company funded the transaction with cash on hand and borrowings under its existing credit facility. Aydin is expected to generate approximately $16 million in revenue during calendar year 2026.
The purchase gives Innovative Aerosystems additional exposure to naval, ground, aerospace and industrial markets, complementing its existing avionics, flight management, autopilot, mission computing and aircraft systems businesses.
Aydin develops ruggedized displays for military and industrial applications operating in demanding environments. The Birdsboro-based company supports more than 20 military platforms across over 80 countries, according to Innovative Aerosystems.
The Aydin Displays name will remain in use, and operations will continue at the company’s existing 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Birdsboro. Its approximately 50 employees will join Innovative Aerosystems.
Keeping the facility and workforce in place is intended to maintain support for existing programs while giving Innovative Aerosystems additional engineering and production capacity.
Chief Executive Officer Shahram Askarpour described the acquisition as part of the company’s effort to offer more integrated aerospace and mission systems.
“Aydin Displays enhances our display technology capabilities, bringing us exceptional engineering talent, proven display technologies, and a respected product portfolio that aligns closely with our expanding family of aerospace solutions,” Askarpour stated.
Innovative Aerosystems expects to integrate Aydin’s display products into its existing platforms and use Aydin’s customer relationships to pursue additional commercial opportunities.
The acquisition also broadens the company’s military business beyond aviation into surface and subsurface naval systems, military vehicles and ground operations.
Aydin has designed and manufactured rugged display systems for more than 50 years. The company’s vertically integrated operation handles engineering and manufacturing at its Pennsylvania facility.
