BERWYN, PA — AMETEK (NYSE: AME) recently completed its acquisition of First Aviation Services, adding approximately $80 million in annual revenue and expanding the industrial manufacturer’s footprint in the aerospace and defense maintenance, repair and overhaul market.
The deal strengthens AMETEK’s position in defense and aviation support services, a sector driven by rising military readiness requirements, aging aircraft fleets and demand for specialized aftermarket capabilities.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
First Aviation provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services for a range of aerospace and defense systems, including advanced electronics, rotor blades and assemblies, propellers, landing gear and flight controls. The company also designs, engineers and manufactures proprietary components used across military and commercial aviation platforms.
The business operates six U.S. facilities and will become part of AMETEK’s Electromechanical Group, one of the company’s two operating segments.
Chief Executive Officer David Zapico said the acquisition expands AMETEK’s existing MRO operations and creates opportunities to increase scale across aerospace and defense programs.
“First Aviation is an excellent strategic fit with our existing MRO business,” Zapico said. He added that the company’s products and services strengthen AMETEK’s position on aerospace and defense platforms.
The acquisition continues AMETEK’s long-standing strategy of using acquisitions to expand its portfolio of industrial technology businesses and increase exposure to markets with recurring aftermarket revenue streams.
For First Aviation, joining a larger industrial technology company could provide additional resources and customer reach while expanding AMETEK’s presence in mission-critical aviation and defense applications.
AMETEK, headquartered in Berwyn, manufactures electronic instruments and electromechanical devices for aerospace, defense, industrial, energy and medical markets. The company regularly uses acquisitions as a component of its growth strategy.
First Aviation’s approximately $80 million in annual revenue represents a modest addition to AMETEK’s broader operations but further deepens the company’s exposure to aerospace and defense aftermarket services, an area that has remained resilient amid broader industrial market fluctuations.
