KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Longwood Gardens has announced an exciting new chapter with the unveiling of Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience, set to open on November 22, 2024. This ambitious project, spearheaded by the architectural vision of WEISS/MANFREDI and the landscape expertise of Reed Hilderbrand, aims to transform the visitor experience and expand the possibilities for exhibitions and events across the gardens.

Central to this revitalization is the grand addition of the West Conservatory. Covering 32,000 square feet, this remarkable structure boasts asymmetrical peaks rising from reflective pools, creating the illusion of floating architecture. Inside, visitors will discover Mediterranean-inspired gardens interwoven with canals and fountains, delivering a harmonious blend of traditional charm and contemporary design.

Paul Redman, President and CEO of Longwood Gardens, expressed his enthusiasm for this new phase, stating, “As we stand on the brink of an exciting new chapter in Longwood Gardens’ illustrious history, I am thrilled to welcome guests to experience Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience during our holiday season. A Longwood Christmas is always a magical time of year, and this year promises to be even more special as we invite visitors to explore new areas and 17 acres of revitalized beauty, including two new glasshouses and stunning gardens and water features.”

The project introduces a seamless connection across the iconic central grounds, transitioning visitors from formal gardens to the sweeping vistas of Pennsylvania’s Brandywine Valley. As part of the winter festivities, A Longwood Christmas will enchant guests from November 22, 2024, through January 12, 2025, with over half a million twinkling lights, festive fountain shows, and beautifully decorated indoor spaces. The East Conservatory, transformed into a winter wonderland, and the Main Conservatory’s floating holiday trees are among the highlights not to be missed.
