KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A walk through Longwood Gardens right now feels like stepping into a living painting, where waves of color stretch for hundreds of feet and spring is on full display at its peak.

Tens of thousands of blooming bulbs have transformed the gardens into a vibrant showcase of the season, led by the iconic Flower Garden Walk. Here, tulips—spring’s signature bloom—flow across a 600-foot display that shifts from cool purples and pinks to bold reds and yellows, before settling into soft whites.

Beyond the tulips, the landscape continues to evolve with each step. Flowering redbuds and dogwoods add layers of pastel color, while woodland paths reveal emerging native wildflowers like Virginia bluebells and trillium. Inside the West Conservatory, visitors can explore a curated collection of Kurume azalea bonsai, blending horticulture with artistry through the end of the month.

The seasonal display is paired with a lineup of experiences designed to deepen the connection between visitors and the natural world. From educational talks to immersive wellness sessions and evening performances, Longwood is offering multiple ways to engage with spring beyond the gardens themselves.

On Sunday, April 19, visitors can join research specialist Caroline Kim for “The Stories Behind Our Plants,” an exploration of how discovery, experimentation, and care bring new plant varieties to life. Later in the week, guests can begin their day with “Springtime Sound Bathing,” a guided experience using sound and breathwork to create a restorative morning in a garden setting.

Music will also take center stage on Thursday evening, April 23, when organist Dr. Damin Spritzer performs works by Bach and other classical composers, bringing a different kind of harmony to the blooming surroundings.
