KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Marching bands, veterans groups, towering stilt walkers, and thousands of spectators are expected to fill the streets of downtown Kennett Square as Chester County’s largest Memorial Day parade returns with its biggest lineup yet.

The annual Kennett Square Memorial Day Parade will step off Monday, May 25, bringing together community organizations, performers, and residents for a morning dedicated to honoring fallen service members while celebrating one of the region’s most cherished traditions.

Organizers say this year’s parade features record participation, with more groups, performances, and community involvement than ever before.

A Community Tradition With Patriotic Flair

The parade will begin at Kennett High School before making its way into downtown, where Pollock Music vocal students will perform the National Anthem at the intersection of State and Union streets.

As part of Kennett Collaborative’s ongoing America250 efforts, patriotic décor now lines much of downtown Kennett Square, including a large 25-foot American flag overlooking the center of town near the historic clocktower.

“This year’s parade reflects the incredible spirit and pride of the Kennett Square community,” said Mary Lou Baily, development manager for Kennett Collaborative. “We are honored to continue a tradition that brings residents together to remember and recognize those who served our country.”

Returning Favorites and New Energy

This year’s parade lineup includes longtime crowd favorites such as the Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps, the Dixie Demons alumni band, and the Lenape Brass Ensemble.

Spectators can also expect appearances from Uncle Sam on stilts, historical car clubs, reenactment groups, marching bands, veterans organizations, and dozens of local community groups.

For the first time, bilingual parade announcements will be featured along the route, with English-language commentary broadcast near East State Street and Spanish-language announcements provided along South Union Street.

Honoring Local Veterans

The 2026 parade grand marshals are Michael O’Neal, William Corkadel, and Robert Eastwood, all recognized for their service and contributions to the community.

Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early, as street closures will begin before the parade starts and large crowds are expected throughout downtown.
