EXTON, PA — Bold color, layered typography and messages designed to make viewers stop and think will fill the Buck Family Center for the Arts this month as Church Farm School opens a new exhibition featuring nationally recognized letterpress artist Amos Paul Kennedy Jr.
“Citizen Printer: Amos Paul Kennedy Jr.” will open with a public reception Sept. 18, giving students, families and community members an opportunity to experience Kennedy’s distinctive work up close while gathering for an evening of art and conversation.
Kennedy is known for colorful, message-driven prints that explore race, justice, democracy and civic participation through striking combinations of words, texture and color.
His work is designed to do more than decorate a wall.
“Some art is meant to be seen. This art is meant to start a conversation,” Church Farm School states in its event description.
That spirit will shape the opening reception, which is intended to bring together members of the Church Farm School community and visitors from across the region.
The exhibition adds an educational dimension to the school’s broader public-program series, connecting visual art with questions of history, civic life and social experience. Church Farm School also notes that its public programming helps support student scholarships.
