Croke will then join the orchestra for Bernstein’s Symphony No. 1, “Jeremiah,” a dramatic work inspired by the biblical prophet that explores themes of struggle, sorrow and lamentation.

The concert concludes with Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 in D-flat Major, Op. 30, “Romantic,” celebrated for its expansive melodies and rich orchestral textures.

Together, the selections offer audiences contrasting expressions of 20th-century American music, from Bernstein’s theatrical brilliance to Hanson’s romantic style.
