DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Chester County Intermediate Unit and Chester County Regional Educational Services have launched a countywide awards program spanning all 12 public school districts to recognize teachers and support staff for their work with students and schools.

Nominations for the inaugural Chester County Champions of Education Awards opened Oct. 1. Honorees will be recognized March 14, 2027, at The Desmond in Malvern.

The program brings the county’s public school districts together with the CCIU and CCRES under a single recognition program that organizers intend to hold annually.

Three awards will be presented. Champion of the Classroom will recognize an educator for direct instruction and work with students, while Champion of Service will recognize a school staff member for contributions supporting students and school operations.

A third category, Champion of CCRES, is reserved for a CCRES employee whose work supports students and schools.

“Every day, teachers and staff across Chester County are doing outstanding work with our students, often without recognition,” CCIU Executive Director Dr. George F. Fiore said. “The Champions of Education Awards give our community a way to say thank you, together, as one county.”

Organizers said the program is designed to provide recognition to both educators and support employees rather than limiting the awards to classroom teachers.

CCRES Executive Director Matt Przywara said the program is intended to recognize employees who have a direct impact on classrooms and school communities across the county.

The CCIU is coordinating the awards program, with CCRES Educational and Behavioral Health Services serving as lead sponsor.
