KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Kennett Collaborative will host a two-day plant sale on May 2 and 3 at Pratt’s Greenhouse in Avondale to raise funds for public flower plantings throughout Kennett Square.

The annual sale supports the organization’s Beautification Committee, which maintains seasonal plantings in planters and small garden spaces across the borough.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, at Pratt’s Greenhouse, located at 634 Hillendale Road.

Pratt’s Greenhouse will donate 20 percent of all sales proceeds to the Beautification Committee, which uses the funding to purchase and maintain flowers planted in public spaces throughout Kennett Square.

According to Kennett Collaborative, volunteers plant flowers in the spring and summer and install holiday greenery in the winter as part of the program.

This year’s plantings will feature red, white, and blue flowers in recognition of the United States’ 250th anniversary, with American flags provided through support from the Chester County Community Foundation.

Daniel Embree, executive director of Kennett Collaborative, said the fundraiser helps support the borough’s public gardens while offering residents an opportunity to purchase plants for their own homes.

Pratt’s Greenhouse owner Bill Reynolds selects plant varieties suited to specific growing conditions, according to the release.

The Borough of Kennett Square’s Public Works Department is responsible for watering and maintaining the planters throughout the season.

The Beautification Committee includes Kennett Collaborative staff and volunteers, along with representatives from local organizations such as the Four Seasons Garden Club, Spade and Trowel Garden Club, and Kennett Library.
