PHILADELPHIA, PA — Comcast Business has launched SecurityEdge Preferred nationwide, expanding its cybersecurity portfolio as cyberattacks increasingly target small businesses that often lack dedicated security staff and enterprise-grade protection tools.
The service, available to Comcast Business Internet customers across the company’s national footprint, is designed to provide network-level threat protection without requiring additional hardware, software deployments or specialized IT expertise.
The launch comes as cybersecurity threats against smaller organizations continue to rise. Comcast Business reported that its network processed 34.6 billion security events in 2025, while citing industry research showing that 43% of cyberattacks now target small businesses. The company also noted that financial losses tied to data breaches have increased significantly in recent years.
SecurityEdge Preferred is integrated directly into Comcast’s network infrastructure, allowing threats to be identified and blocked as internet traffic enters or exits a customer’s network. The platform monitors incoming and outgoing traffic for malware, ransomware, phishing attacks and botnet activity while using artificial intelligence-driven threat intelligence to adapt to emerging attack patterns.
“Security shouldn’t require an IT department to work,” said Christian Nascimento, senior vice president of connectivity and digital customer solutions at Comcast Business.
The platform also includes application-level controls, geographic traffic filtering, customizable alerts and a dashboard that provides business owners with visibility into network activity and potential threats.
According to Comcast Business, SecurityEdge Preferred blocked cyber threats targeting small businesses at an average rate exceeding 230 per second during May 2026.
The service requires only a Comcast Business Internet router and can be activated within minutes, the company said.
SecurityEdge Preferred is priced at $40 per month for Comcast Business Internet customers with speeds below 1 gigabit per second and $60 per month for Gig+ customers. The product is also available through Comcast Business bundle offerings.
“Our network is what makes this different,” Nascimento said. “Security that’s embedded in the infrastructure — rather than layered on top of it — means we can stop threats closer to where they originate, at a scale most small businesses could never achieve on their own.”
Comcast Business began rolling out the product through a limited beta program in November 2025 before expanding availability nationwide.
