PennDOT said the ramp from westbound I-676 to eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) will close nightly from Tuesday, May 26, through Thursday, May 28, between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning for landscape installation work.
During the closure, drivers will be directed to continue on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), take the Girard Avenue Exit (Exit 342), and travel west on Girard Avenue to reconnect with eastbound I-76.
Additional restrictions are scheduled the following weekend. From 9:00 PM Friday, May 29, through 6:00 AM Monday, June 1, the ramps from both eastbound and westbound I-76 to Montgomery Drive (Exit 341) will close for a special event. PennDOT said motorists should follow posted detour signs during the closure.
Drivers traveling through the Schuylkill corridor should expect congestion near the detour routes, particularly during late-night and early-morning travel periods. Plan extra time and consider alternate routes where possible.
All scheduled work and closures are weather dependent.
