PennDOT warned that backups and delays will occur near the work area and along the detour. Drivers should plan extra time and consider alternate routes when possible.

The closure is part of a $60.4 million project covering high-priority repairs to interstate bridges across the Philadelphia region.

Work under the contract includes repairs to deteriorated bridge decks, structural steel, concrete beams, railings, guiderail, expansion joints and portions of bridge substructures.

Crews are also repairing bearings and concrete supports, cleaning bridge seats, removing debris beneath structures, repainting overhead steel sign structures and upgrading roadway lighting to LED fixtures.
