Local Man Wanted for Allegedly Posing as Lawyer, Taking Payment

POTTSTOWN, PA — Authorities in Lower Pottsgrove Township have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of unlawfully practicing law and taking money from a victim under false pretenses.

Police allege that 33-year-old Anthony Darnell Cox knowingly presented himself as a licensed attorney, despite not being authorized to practice law, and accepted payment for legal services he claimed to have provided. Investigators say the conduct amounted to both theft by deception and unauthorized practice of law.

The warrant, issued on August 11, 2025, by Magisterial District Judge Edward C. Kropp Sr., charges Cox with one count each of theft by deception and unauthorized practice of law. He is described as a Black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 240 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Police have not released details regarding the alleged victim or the amount of money involved. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Cox’s whereabouts to contact the Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
