Wilmington Man Nabbed in Claymont Bank Heist After Nearly a Year on the Run

CLAYMONT, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2024 bank robbery at M&T Bank in Claymont, Delaware.

According to the Delaware State Police, 66-year-old Gregory Davis was apprehended on July 14, 2025, following a months-long investigation into the incident that occurred on August 5, 2024.

On that morning, at approximately 10:45 a.m., troopers responded to a reported robbery at M&T Bank located on Philadelphia Pike. Authorities stated that an unknown white male suspect entered the bank and presented a demand note to a teller. The teller complied, handing over an undisclosed sum of cash before the suspect fled on foot. Despite immediate search efforts, law enforcement was initially unable to locate the individual.

Following extensive investigative work, detectives from Troop 2 identified Davis as the suspect and secured warrants for his arrest on multiple felony charges.

After his arrest, Davis was taken to Troop 2, where he was formally charged with robbery in the second degree and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and initially released on a $12,000 unsecured bond. However, Davis was later committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a separate $50,000 cash bond related to a probation violation.
