NEWARK, DE —A Newark man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse that reportedly occurred several years ago.
The New Castle County Division of Police arrested 34-year-old Santos Aguilar-Aguilar on June 12, 2025, in connection with alleged incidents that took place between 2017 and 2019. According to investigators, the allegations involve repeated sexual abuse of a victim who was approximately 5 to 7 years old during the time of the incidents. Aguilar-Aguilar is described as having been a known acquaintance of the victim.
The investigation started in June 2024, when officers responded to a report from the victim. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit conducted a detailed inquiry, which included interviews and evidence collection over several months. Warrants were issued for Aguilar-Aguilar’s arrest in April 2025, but detectives initially struggled to locate him, suspecting he had left the country.
Detectives with the Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team ultimately located Aguilar-Aguilar at a residence in the unit block of Raven Turn in the Sparrow Run community. He was taken into custody without incident.
Aguilar-Aguilar has been charged with multiple offenses, including three felony counts of first-degree rape, one felony count of continuous sexual abuse of a child, and other crimes related to sexual abuse and unlawful contact. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.
Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Aguilar-Aguilar was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, unable to post $4,000,000 cash bail.
Authorities emphasize that Aguilar-Aguilar is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates on the case may be provided as developments unfold.
