Man Charged in Wilmington Shooting That Left Two Injured, One Critical!

WILMINGTON, DE — A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that left two men injured in Wilmington on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

At approximately 1:32 p.m., Wilmington Police responded to the 300 block of North Franklin Street following reports of a shooting. Officers located a 26-year-old man who had sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A second victim, a 35-year-old man, was also injured and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The investigation, led by Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division, identified a suspect vehicle linked to the shooting. On Sunday morning, officers with the Uniformed Services Division located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop near 9th and Madison Streets. Police took the driver, identified as 27-year-old Yaphet White, into custody without incident and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun during the arrest.

White has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $280,000 cash-only bail.

Investigators continue to look into the circumstances of the shooting. The Wilmington Police Department reminds the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
