Heartbreaking Loss in Wilmington Shooting—19-Year-Old Tragically Killed, Investigation Ongoing

WILMINGTON, DE — A 19-year-old man has died following a shooting in Wilmington, prompting an active investigation by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit.

The incident occurred on February 19, 2025, at approximately 4:29 p.m. on East Lea Boulevard near Philadelphia Pike. Responding troopers found Jamarr Thompson, a Wilmington resident, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and emergency personnel immediately provided medical aid, and Thompson was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Despite efforts to save him, Thompson succumbed to his injuries on February 21.

Authorities have confirmed that one suspect, identified as Darmond Green, remains in custody at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. Updated charges related to the incident are expected as the investigation progresses.
