Foot Chase Leads to Arrest: Wilmington Men Caught with Gun and Marijuana

WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department has announced the arrest of two individuals following a recent operation that uncovered alleged gun and drug offenses. On the afternoon of November 11, 2023, officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 600 block of West 9th Street.

Upon arrival at approximately 2:58 p.m., the police attempted to engage with the vehicle’s occupants. However, two male subjects exited and fled on foot. Following a brief pursuit, authorities apprehended 18-year-old Mattao Pepe and 20-year-old Kaveon Tucker without further incident. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm handgun and approximately 400 grams of marijuana.

Mattao Pepe faces multiple charges, including two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $12,000 unsecured bail.

Kaveon Tucker has been charged with Possession of Marijuana and Resisting Arrest. He was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $550 unsecured bail.

It is important to emphasize that all allegations are subject to legal proceedings, and both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
