CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Winter has arrived with authority, and it is not asking politely. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday as heavy snow and blowing winds create treacherous conditions across Chester County. If you looked outside this morning and briefly forgot where you parked your car, you’re not alone.
Snow continues today, occasionally falling heavy, with total accumulations across the region ranging between 4 and 6 inches. Temperatures will drop steadily through the afternoon, falling to around 20 degrees by 5 p.m. Strong northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph — gusting as high as 35 mph — will cause blowing snow and sharply reduced visibility. Road conditions are slick, and travel is strongly discouraged unless absolutely necessary.
Tonight, the storm pulls away, but the cold digs in. Skies clear, temperatures plunge to around 13 degrees, and wind chills dip as low as -2. Winds remain brisk overnight, ensuring anything wet freezes solid. This is not the night to forget the gloves.
Monday brings a quieter but still frigid day. Clouds increase, highs struggle to reach 28, and there’s a slight chance of snow showers during the afternoon. Monday night stays cold, dropping to around 15 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
Tuesday offers modest improvement, with sunshine returning and highs near 30. It’s still cold, but at least the sun is doing its part. Tuesday night remains chilly with lows around 21.
By midweek, Chester County finally catches a break. Wednesday turns partly sunny and noticeably milder, with highs near 43. Thursday continues the warming trend, climbing to near 48 before rain moves in Thursday night. With temperatures staying above freezing, precipitation falls as rain, not snow — a rare but welcome distinction this week.
Friday clears out with sunshine and a high near 42, followed by a colder night in the low 20s. Saturday stays seasonably cool with partial sunshine and highs near 41 — a calm ending after a very loud start to the week.
Bottom line: shovel carefully, drive cautiously, and remember — winter always shows up eventually. This time, it just decided to make an entrance.
