NORTH COVENTRY TWP, PA — Drivers on U.S. 422 should prepare for delays next week as PennDOT continues roadway reconstruction with daytime lane closures impacting both directions.

At a Glance:

  • Roads Affected: U.S. 422 (Westbound & Eastbound)
  • Dates: Monday, March 30, through Friday, April 3
  • Times: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (westbound); 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (eastbound)
  • Reason: Roadway reconstruction and bridge improvements

PennDOT said westbound U.S. 422 will have a lane closure between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges during early daytime hours, while eastbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane between Hanover Street and Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) later in the day.

No detour is planned, but drivers should expect backups and slow-moving traffic through the work zones, especially during peak travel times. Plan extra time or seek alternate routes to avoid congestion.

The work is part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.

Motorists are urged to remain alert, follow traffic control devices, and reduce speeds through active construction areas.
